Macleay markets come alive with Festival of Place

Kempsey Shire Council

Festival of Place performers at South West Rocks

South West Rocks market-goers were treated to lively entertainment and an ambient atmosphere on Saturday 8 May, with a handful of local musicians performing at the South West Rocks Beachside Markets in Horseshoe Bay.

Providing the public with this entertainment was made possible thanks to Festival of Place funding secured by Council to revitalise our community spaces after the unprecedented events of the last year.

Council has offered local market organisers the funding to promote local talent and provide opportunities for entertainment and creative workshops at these community events.

The local musicians featured at South West Rocks Beachside Markets over the weekend were Joey Lee Wagtail, Liam Moylan and Nathan Douglas.

This Sunday 16 May, the Festival of Place will head to the Gladstone Quality Market and will feature:

  • Dunghutti Weaving Workshop - Nancy Pattison
  • Etching Workshop - Catherine Eadie
  • Ceramics Demo - Deb Farrell
  • Acrylic Painting Demo Maureen Hales
  • Street Art Demo - Patrick Indo
  • Live Music - The Shufflemen
