Maintenance Boost For More Victorian Schools

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is making sure every Victorian student has access to a world-class learning environment - with more school upgrades to be carried out at schools across the Education State.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll today announced 46 more schools would share $22.5 million in funding from the Planned Maintenance Program (PMP) to prioritise and complete maintenance works on classrooms and facilities.

The schools will use the funding to carry out essential works such as drainage works, fixing roofs, replacing windows, maintaining ramps, painting, resurfacing floors and improving pathways.

Bayside P-12 College was allocated almost $2 million to maintain and improve ramps, including a complete rebuild of 56 ramps, partial rebuild of two ramps and minor works for five ramps.

Mill Park Secondary College was allocated more than $1.6 million to address issues including clean down works, repainting works, revarnishing works, roof works, soffits replacement, stormwater works and switchboard works.

Nichols Point Primary School in Mildura was allocated $1.1 million to upgrade its hydraulic fire safety system.

Works are determined by a rolling facilities evaluation process, which provides up-to-date information on the condition of schools to create a faster and more targeted allocation of funding.

Including this latest round of funding, the PMP has funded $128.8 million for 368 projects at 320 schools in 2025.

The Labor Government has now invested $18.5 billion over the past 11 years to build new schools and deliver more than 2,300 school upgrades − supporting more than 30,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.
