Maitland Junior Football Club Named Club Changer of Month

Football Australia and Northern New South Wales Football are pleased to celebrate Maitland Junior Football Club as Club Changer, Club Development Program Club of the Month due to their efforts to improve football environments within their community, especially in the women's part of the game.

"MJFC started the Club Changer program with the main objective of growing female participation in all aspects of the game" Phillip Andrews - NNSW Club Development Program Manager

The club created an action plan as part of the process to achieve their Club Changer 1 Star accreditation, where they committed to creating a pathway for children through to adults to play football at one club focusing on their personal and professional development.

Maitland JFC successfully started a second female development squad which was a priority for the club in 2023 in order to chase their goal of having a 50:50 split of female and male participation in the near future.

This year Maitland Junior Football Club have over 1,000 players, from 5 to 65 years old, and 33% of them are female, so we are really happy. However, we won't stop until we reach 50-50 participation - Evelyn Stonham - Secretary/Registrar

"Maitland Junior Football Club is very special because we are all about community… since I joined in 2008, this club was one of the only clubs encouraging girls to play football and that makes it different": Jennifer Beale - Treasurer

Maitland JFC has over 1,000 players and is proudly distinguished for offering the opportunity to play to members of all diverse groups and communities.

Ian McDonald, President of the club, recommends all clubs to get involved with Club Changer to put a structure together and make use of the resources and support from Football Australia and Northern New South Wales.
