On Monday, 20 April 2026, officers from the Goldfields-Esperance District were conducting a Vehicle Search Authorisation (VSA) on Eyre Highway.
About 5.30pm, officers stopped a vehicle that was allegedly travelling from South Australia. During the search of the vehicle, it will be alleged police located approximately 34 kilograms of Methylamphetamine.
The 31-year-old male driver and the 30-year-old female passenger were arrested at the scene. The 31-year-old Malaysian international was charged with one count of 'Possessed a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply it to another'.
He appeared before the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, where he was remanded in custody. He is next due to appear before the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on 11 June 2026.
The 30-year-old female passenger was released pending further inquiries.
