The Miles Government has released plans detailing the scope and scale of a major new police facility at Hervey Bay.
The Queensland Police Service advises the original scope of the project has been expanded to include additional watchhouse cells, increases to the general dayroom and investigations areas, additional interview rooms, facility amenities and car parking upgrades.
The $28 million project will provide Hervey Bay police with-state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities to support their work into the future.
The project is part of a record police infrastructure pipeline that supports the biggest investment in police personnel in more than 30 years.
That investment in the Queensland Community Safety Plan will deliver more than 2,000 extra police personnel.
The Queensland Police Service states that investment will deliver a minimum of 150 extra police officers to the police region that encompasses Hervey Bay.
Given the Queensland Police Service is currently undertaking the biggest police recruitment drive in the state's history, to deliver on the government's investment, it's clear that police will require enhanced infrastructure and facilities to support the extra personnel.
