Snowy Monaro Regional Council is delighted to announce that construction works carried out on Springfield Road and funded under the NSW Government Fixing Local Roads Program – Round 1 have been successfully completed with the road now fully open for public use.

This project has been delivered in two stages, for a total length of 4km, along with important improvements to the unsealed section of the road that included sealing of the pavement, drainage improvements, culvert extensions, signage and line marking.

Work on Springfield Road is part of a broader program of works funded under the NSW Government Fixing Local Roads Program that delivered road upgrades to Tinderry Road and Springfield Road (Round 1), and will deliver upgrades to Avonside and Maffra Road (Round 2), Mila, Shannons Flat and Dry Plains Road (Round 3). All works funded under the NSW Government Fixing Local Roads program are expected to be fully complete by April 2024.

Council will announce shortly the estimated start work dates for Avonside Road and Mila Road, with programs of work expected to be complete by the end of June 2023 (Avonside) and November 2023 (Mila).

Snowy Monaro Regional Council would like to thank the community and road users for their patience while traffic restrictions were in effect – these ensured the safety of staff undertaking works and motorists travelling along Springfield Road.

Council also acknowledges that there is still work to be done on the existing sealed section of Springfield Road. The recent award of funds through NSW Government Fixing Local Roads Pothole Repair Program and Regional and Local Road Repair Program will assist with those improvements.
