Major Road Upgrade For Webb Street, Ararat

Ararat Rural City Council will begin construction of a new road in Webb Street, Ararat, from Monday 24 November, with works expected to continue for several weeks, weather permitting.

The project includes the construction of a new road surface, driveways, kerb and channel, drainage and new footpaths.

To allow construction to take place safely, Webb Street will be closed daily between 7am and 5.30pm, with limited access maintained for street residents.

The upgrade is part of a $1.5 million Roads to Recovery project, which also delivered the reconstruction of Churchill Avenue between Tobin Street and Port Fairy Road, completed in August.

Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said the Webb Street works were part of Council's ongoing commitment to improving local infrastructure and road safety.

"We're really pleased to begin works on Webb Street, which has been a priority for Council," said Dr Harrison. "It's fantastic to be able to replace the entire road along with all associated infrastructure. We know these improvements will make a big difference for residents, both practically and aesthetically."

Meanwhile, road rehabilitation works continue along Mt William Road, where Council's works team remains active near Yalla Y Poora.

This project includes road widening between Travellers Rest Road and Armstrong Road and is expected to be completed in the new year. Once finished, it will deliver a much safer route for both locals and visitors.
