The future of small business in Hume City is looking bright after Hume City Council secured funding through the Victorian Government's Multicultural Business Precinct Revitalisation Program.
Grants received under the program help local councils deliver improvements to local shopfronts, public infrastructure and community spaces in multicultural business hubs.
In-line for an upgrade are the shopping strips of Barry Road, Olsen Place and Mahoneys Road, well-known for their multicultural eateries and meeting hubs in Campbellfield and Broadmeadows.
Including a redevelopment of the iconic Fordgate Shops, the upgrade aims to boost local foot traffic for businesses and attract new visitors, while celebrating the communities that have been at the heart of the Campbellfield and Broadmeadows precincts.
With $280,000 granted for the council-led project, we will work with traders to deliver the improvements and promote cultural diversity across the three sites.
As economies shift and change, small businesses remain at the heart of local communities; Hume City Council is committed to advocating to all levels of government to ensure we protect these local jobs.
The Multicultural Business Precinct Revitalisation Program is supported by the Victorian Government through Business Victoria.
Quotes attributable to Hume City Mayor, Cr Carly Moore:
"Our business precincts have always been shaped by the people who live, work and gather in them."
"This investment allows us to enhance those spaces, and we are committed to working alongside local businesses to ensure these upgrades support long‑term success."
