Major water leak in Burdell repaired by Council Crews

Townsville City Council crews have repaired a major water leak in Burdell that was affecting several suburbs.

The leak was identified and isolated last week and Council crews had to wait until the ground dried enough for the repair works to be completed.

Townsville Water and Waste Committee Chair Cr Russ Cook said Council crews had been working hard to keep essential services running throughout the city.

"The unprecedented flood put a lot of stress on infrastructure across the city and our crews have been doing a fantastic job at fixing any arising issues," Cr Cook said.

"The leak in Burdell had the potential to impact residents in several suburbs so our staff worked quickly to identify and isolate the water main that was affected.

"We'd like to thank residents for their patience while we found and repaired the leak."

All recovery information is available through the Emergency Management Dashboard.
