Man and woman charged after stealing, stabbing in Ballina

A man and woman will face court today after an incident on the Far North Coast yesterday. , NSW Police say

About 3pm yesterday, a 24-year-old man and a woman, aged 30, allegedly entered a shopping centre at Ballina and stole numerous items.

A short time later, a 24-year-old man entered a fast food shop in a shopping centre on Pacific Highway.

The man allegedly took a sum of money from the cash register.

He fled from the location on foot, followed by two other men.

One of the men demanded the cash, before a physical altercation ensued, in which a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to his left arm.

The 15-year-old was taken to Ballina Hospital for treatment.

Following inquiries, a man and a woman were arrested at a home in Wardell and taken to Ballina Police Station.

The 24-year-old man was charged with reckless wounding, larceny, use offensive weapon to avoid apprehension and possess offensive weapon.

The 30-year-old woman was charged with conceal serious indictable offence, goods in custody x2 and shoplifting.

Both men were bail refused to appear at Lismore Local Court today.
