Man and woman charged with drug and weapon offences at Broken Hill

A man and a woman have been charged following an operation targeting Firearm Prohibition Orders (FPO) in the state's far west this week.

On Wednesday (20 October 2021), officers attached to Barrier Police Districts Proactive Crime Team along with detectives and general duties conducted a compliance operation targeting FPOs.

About 8.15am, officers attended a home on Ryan Lane, Broken Hill, and executed a FPO.

During a search of the home, officers seized methylamphetamine, cannabis and prescription medication.

The occupant, a 38-year-old woman, was issued a court attendance notice for two counts of possess prohibited drug and possess/attempt to, and prescribed restricted substance.

She is due to appear at Broken Hill Local Court on Tuesday 7 December 2021.

A home on Cummins Street, Broken Hill was also subject to a FPO search about 2pm, where officers seized prohibited weapons, including: nunchuks and two sling shots.

The occupant, a 55-year-old man - was issued a court attendance notice for use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order and is due to appear at Broken Hill Local Court on Tuesday 9 November 2021.
