A man has been arrested after allegedly being found with a firearm, drugs and assaulting two police officers in Sydney's inner west.
About 10.30am today (Friday 28 August 2026), officers from Burwood Police Area Command attempted to speak to a man riding a bike on Kensington Road, Summer Hill.
The man ran from police and during a foot pursuit, an ammunition magazine has allegedly been dropped by the man.
The 31-year-old man was arrested a short time later, during which he allegedly resisted police.
During the arrest two officers were injured.
One of the officers - a probationary constable - suffered a deep laceration to his wrist, while the second officer - a senior constable - suffered a minor hand injury.
A third officer, a second probationary constable, was uninjured.
Both injured officers were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
During a subsequent search of the 31-year-old man, officers allegedly located and seized a firearm and 9.39g of methylamphetamine with estimated street value of $3900.
The 31-year-old man was also taken to hospital, under police guard, where he remains.
Inquiries are ongoing.
