Man arrested following fatal motorcycle crash

A man has been arrested following a fatal motorcycle crash in Doncaster this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

The rider has allegedly mounted the nature strip, fallen off his bike and hit a brick letterbox at the intersection of High Street and Winters Way about 1.30pm.

His bike, a red Ducati, has then struck a male pedestrian.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

The male pedestrian has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 24-year-old man was later arrested in Coburg and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Major Collision Investigation Unit is investigating whether street racing was occurring prior to the crash.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have observed the movements of the motorcycle or a blue Ford XR6 sedan prior to the crash to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
