Man arrested following pursuit at West Beach, SA

A man has been arrested for numerous offences following a pursuit and break-in in the western suburbs last night, according to SA Police.

Just before 10pm, Monday 6 March patrols attended Military Road, West Beach after receiving reports of a white Subaru Forester doing burnouts in the area. The car also allegedly rammed a member of the public's car.

Police spotted the car on West Beach Road which allegedly drove at and hit the patro, causing minor damage. The driver then abandoned the car in nearby Atlantic Avenue before running off.

Subsequent checks on the Subaru revealed that it had been stolen about 2am on Monday 6 March from Seaview Road West Beach.

A resident at Ingerson Street, West Beach called police about 10.15pm after the man allegedly broke into the residence and stole the occupants red Ford sedan. The occupant was not injured.

PolAir was brought in to assist with the search and tracked the stolen red Ford to a petrol station on Henley Beach Road, Brooklyn Park where the man was arrested.

A 34-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with multiple offences including engaging in a police pursuit, aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft, illegal use, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

He has been refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
