Man arrested following robbery in Kempsey

A man has been charged after an elderly woman was allegedly robbed on the state’s mid north coast, NSW Police say.

About 12:10pm on Saturday 24 November 2018 police were called to Middleton Street, South Kempsey after reports an 85-year-old woman had been robbed.

Following inquiries, today (7 December 2018) officers from Mid North Coast Police District attended a house on Keith Moses Crescent, West Kempsey.

On arrival a man was allegedly seen running from the property.

Police searched the area and a short time later the man was allegedly found hiding under a house on Gordon Nixon Avenue, West Kempsey.

The 22-year-old South Kempsey man was arrested and taken to Kempsey Police Station where he was charged with steal from person and an unrelated larceny matter.

He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 8 December 2018).
