Man arrested following Thornbury collision

Police have arrested a man following a collision in Thornbury last night, Victoria Police say.

Police responded to a vehicle observed allegedly travelling at high speed and erratically in the Preston area about 7.40pm.

Police attempted to intercept the Mazda CX9 but it took off along Dundas Street and Victoria Street.

It is believed the car was travelling at high speed along Mansfield Street toward Station Street when it collided with a Holden sedan.

The 39-year-old Mazda driver was arrested at the scene and is yet to be interviewed at this stage.

Four people from the other car were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the Mazda prior to the collision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
