Man arrested for alleged serious assault - Alice Springs

Police from Operation Haven in Alice Springs have arrested a 28-year-old man in relation to an alleged serious assault on his 25 year old female partner.

The alleged assault, which occurred in Alice Springs on April 2018, resulted in the victim having to be transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with life threatening injuries, Northern Territory Police say.

Police located the alleged offender yesterday in Alice Springs and arrested him as he attempted to flee.

"Police will continue to target those choose to use violence and cause harm to others, particularly those they are in a relationship with," Senior Constable Marcus Becker from the Alice Springs Domestic Violence Unit said.

This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated."

The man has been remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court at a later date.
