Police have arrested a man following two collisions and two alleged attempted carjackings in Mitcham this morning.
Officers responded to reports of a white Toyota van driving erratically, and the driver threatening other motorists, in the vicinity of Mitcham Road about 10.30am.
The van allegedly collided with a civilian vehicle before taking off at speed and colliding with a police vehicle.
There were no injuries.
Officers maintained eyes on the van as it allegedly continued to drive towards Nunawading.
Police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device near the corner of Gillies and Page streets in Mitcham.
Investigators allege that the driver of the van attempted to carjack two vehicles on Springfield Road in Mitcham, before continuing to drive on.
One of the attempted carjacking victims remains unknown to investigators and is urged to come forward to police.
There were no reported injuries to the victims of the alleged attempted carjackings.
The van continued along Mitcham Road, before allegedly ramming a police vehicle at the intersection of Park and Mitcham roads in Donvale.
A police officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
Officers swiftly moved in and arrested the alleged driver of the van.
A 35-year-old Ringwood man remains in custody and will be interviewed by police.
Investigators allege that the van was stolen from a Ringwood address earlier this morning.
The investigation remains ongoing.
