Man Arrested for Multiple Crashes in Blue Mountains

A man has been arrested over multiple vehicle crashes in the Blue Mountains area this morning.

About 10.40am today (Monday 29 September 2025), emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway, Hazelbrook, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command attended and spoke to the driver of the Honda SUV who told police the driver of a Hyundai had left the scene after the collision.

A short time later, police were called to the Great Western Highway near Glenbrook after a Hyundai SUV and a BMW SUV collided.

The driver of the Hyundai allegedly fled the scene on foot. He was later chased and detained by an off-duty police officer.

During the arrest, police allege the driver – a 29-year-old man - resisted and bit the off-duty officer, causing an injury on hand.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Nepean Hospital for further assessment under police guard.

The off-duty officer was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to the same hospital for further treatment.
