Man arrested in Highton following police pursuit

Police have arrested a man following a pursuit in the Geelong area earlier today (14 October), Victoria Police say.

Highway Patrol officers first sighted the allegedly stolen Grey Holden Berlin sedan travelling east on the Princes Highway near Colac about 11am.

An attempted was made to intercept the vehicle and it speed off.

Police received a number of reports of an erratic driver at the vehicle continued east towards Geelong.

The vehicle was sighted by police in Winchelsea and again in Waurn Ponds where a pursuit was initiated before being terminated after a short distance.

Police monitored the vehicle until it was dumped in Taylor Court, Highton about 11.50am.

The 19-year old Belmont man was arrested with the assistance of the Dog Squad after attempting to flee on foot and hiding in a near-by address.

He remains in custody and is assisting police with enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the vehicle driving erratically, or who has dash cam vision, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
