Man arrested on drug supply and possession charges in Sydney City

A man is facing multiple drug charges following a targeted police operation in Sydney's CBD overnight.

About 8.30pm (Wednesday 17 July 2019), officers attached to Sydney City Proactive Crime Team were targeting the supply of prohibited drugs in the CBD.

During surveillance, police allegedly observed a 29-year-old man make an exchange with another man.

As officers attempted to speak to the man, he ran, and a foot pursuit ensued.

He was apprehended a short time later inside a shopping centre located on the corner of George and Goulburn Streets.

Police seized an amount methylamphetamine, cannabis and cash.

The man was arrested and taken to The Rocks Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug and deal with property proceeds of crime.

The man was refused bail and will appear before Central Local Court today (Thursday 18 July 2019)
