Man arrested over shotgun found in car, SA

A man will appear in court today after police allegedly found a shotgun, ammunition and stolen credit cards in a car at Pennington overnight, according to SA Police.

Just before 2am, a Parks police patrol stopped a Holden Commodore on Condon Street Pennington for a routine traffic stop.

On searching the vehicle, the patrol allegedly located a shotgun behind the rear seat, more than 30 shotgun shells throughout the vehicle, several power tools believed to have been stolen and a number of credit and identification cards in various names.

Police enquires also revealed the shotgun was stolen from a break-in earlier this month.

The driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old man from Port Elliot was arrested and charged with possessing a firearm without a licence, insecure ammunition and two counts of unlawful possession.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
