Man arrested; three firearms recovered after investigation into Rossmore armed robbery

A man will face court today, charged by Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives, after numerous firearms and ammunition were seized following investigations into the armed robbery of a service station in Sydney's south-west last month.

About 1.30am on Friday 13 May 2022, a man – who was wearing a balaclava and armed with a double-barrelled shotgun – approached and threatened a shop attendant at a truck stop on Bringelly Road at Rossmore.

Police have been told the man demanded the worker open the doors to the service station, before forcing him to the ground and taking his wallet, cash from the till, cigarettes, and other items, then fleeing the scene.

The 23-year-old worker was shaken but uninjured.

Initial inquiries were conducted by officers attached to Liverpool Police Area Command before the matter was referred to detectives from the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Coopt.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives – assisted by Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) officers – executed a search warrant at a home in Mount Annan about 8.40pm yesterday (Thursday 3 June 2022).

During a subsequent search, police located and seized three shortened rifles and ammunition, as well as other items relevant to the investigation.

All seized items will undergo further forensic and ballistic examination.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Narellan Police Station where he was charged with five offences, including three counts of possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, and possess ammunition without holding licence.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 3 June 2022).
