Serious Wounding, Fatal Crash Probed in N. Tasmania

Police are investigating a serious wounding incident in Exeter this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a residential property on Main Road about 4.30pm, after reports a woman had sustained serious stab wounds.

Initial investigations indicate the injuries were inflicted by a man known to the woman. She has been taken to hospital and is reportedly in a critical condition.

A crime scene has been declared at the address.

Police believe the incident is linked to a subsequent head on crash involving two vehicles on the West Tamar Highway at Legana.

Initial inquiries indicate a man who reportedly left the Exeter address in a blue Skoda collided with a blue Nissan Navara shortly before 4.40pm.

Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The sole occupant of the other vehicle, a woman in her 30s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. She is believed to be in a serious condition.

Investigations remain ongoing into both the wounding and the crash, with detectives, crash investigators, and forensic services continuing to conduct inquiries.
