Man assaulted on bus; second man charged in Northern Beaches

A second man has been charged following the assault of another man while travelling on a bus through the Northern Beaches earlier this month, NSW Police say.

About 9.25pm (Monday 3 December 2018), the driver of a government bus contacted emergency services and raised concerns regarding an altercation occurring on his bus travelling on Warringah Road, near O’Connor’s Road, Beacon Hill.

The bus pulled over and the altercation turned physical between three men who got off and started fighting on the side of the road.

Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived on scene and treated a 26-year-old man for facial injuries.

He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for further treatment.

Another man, aged 22, was arrested at the scene by officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command and conveyed to Manly Police Station where he was charged.

About 5.30am today (Thursday 20 December 2018), a 23-year-old man was arrested near his home at North Balgowlah.

He was taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (in company) and affray.

He was given conditional bail and will appear in Manly Local Court on Wednesday 16 January 2019.
