Man assaulted with a hammer in Milperra

Police are investigating after a man was assaulted with a hammer in Milperra overnight, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Somme Crescent, Milperra at 10pm today, following reports that a man had been assaulted.

Officers have been told that two men assaulted the victim with a hammer, outside of a house on Somme Crescent before leaving the area.

A 33-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for head and leg injuries before being taken to Bankstown Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Bankstown Local Area Command launched an investigation into the assault, and a crime scene was established which was examined by forensic specialists.

As part of their inquiries, police would like to speak with two men who may be able to assist with the investigation.

The first man is described as Pacific Islander in appearance, about 165cms tall and bald. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and track suit pants.

The second man is described as Pacific Islander in appearance and about 35-year-old. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with track pants.

It is believed the two males may have left the area in a white Audi A3.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
