Man Charged After $350K Cannabis Bust Near Bathurst

A man has been charged after approximately $350,000 worth of cannabis was seized during a vehicle stop near Bathurst on the weekend.

About 9.15am yesterday (Sunday 13 September 2026), officers attached to Bathurst Highway Patrol stopped a van with alleged prohibited window tinting on the Great Western Highway, Yetholme, about 25km east of Bathurst.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located and seized approximately 30kg of cannabis, along with cannabis plant cuttings, stems and other plant material, liquid fertiliser containers and soil.

The vehicle was seized for further analysis.

The driver – a 26-year-old man – was arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug greater than or equal to commercial quantity, and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 4 today (Monday 14 September 2026).

A defect notice was also issued.
