A man has been charged after police discovered an alleged clandestine laboratory, from which $7.6 million worth of drugs were seized.
Officers attached to the Central Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad South commenced investigations into the criminal activities of a man and the alleged manufacture and supply of methylamphetamine.
Following extensive inquiries, a 48-year-old man was identified as being involved.
Shortly before 4pm on Wednesday 20 August 2025, detectives executed a search warrant at a house on the Princes Highway, Heathcote, where a clandestine laboratory was allegedly located.
Police, with the assistance of officers attached to the State Crime Command's Drug and Firearms Squad Chemical Operations Team, Public Order and Riot Squad, Technical Forensic Support Unit and Fire and Rescue NSW, located and seized approximately 76kg of methylamphetamine, worth an estimated $7.6 million, and items consistent with the manufacture of prohibited drugs, including precursor chemicals.
A 48-year-old man was arrested at the location and was taken to Sutherland Police Station.
He has been charged with nine offences:
- Two counts of supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity
- Supply prohibited drug more than or equal to large commercial quantity
- Organises/conducts/assists drug premises
- Possess precursor intend to use in manufacture/production
- Two counts of possess prohibited drug
- Goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle)
- Drive while licence cancelled
He was refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Thursday (21 August 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 21 October 2025.
