Man charged after assault in Balmain

A man will face court after allegedly assaulting another man in Balmain, NSW Police say.

About 11pm on Saturday 28 January 2017, a 32-year-old man left a home on Theodore Street and was allegedly assaulted by a man who then fled the scene.

The man was conveyed by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Royal Price Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It will be alleged the two males were not known to each other.

Officers from Leichhardt Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

About 11.45pm today, a 39-year-old man handed himself into Balmain Police Station.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 10 March 2017.
