Man Charged After Black Mountain Police Operation

A man has been charged over multiple domestic violence offences in the state's west today.

In April 2025, officers attached to Western Region High Risk Domestic Violence Team commenced an investigation following reports of a domestic violence incident in the Armidale area.

Police were told between September 2023 and January 2026, two women – aged 36 and 34 – were assaulted multiple times by a man known to them.

Police established multiple crime scenes and commenced an investigation into the incidents.

Following extensive inquiries, about 12.10pm today (Thursday 22 January 2026), officers from Western Region High Risk Domestic Violence Team, with the assistance from New England Police District, Western Region Operations Group, Police Transport Command, arrested a 35-year-old man at a home on Black Mountain Road, Black Mountain.

He was taken to Armidale Police Station where he was charged with seven outstanding warrants on contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic), breach of bail, aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, attempt stalk/intimidate intend fear of harm (domestic), intentionally choke etc person without consent (DV), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), larceny value less than or equal to $2000, two counts of common assault (DV), destroy or damage property (DV), and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 5 tomorrow (Friday 23 January 2026).
