Man charged after chemicals discovered during search warrant, NSW

A man has been charged after chemicals allegedly associated with drug manufacture were located during a search warrant at Lake Macquarie yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 8.30am today, officers from the Lake Macquarie Property Crime Reduction Team attended a home in Regent Street, Tingira Heights while conducting investigations into an earlier break-in at Charlestown.

During the search warrant, officers located a man inside allegedly disposing items consistent with a clandestine laboratory.

Officers arrested a 30-year-old man and requested officers from Fire & Rescue NSW Hazmat and the State Crime Command Chemical Operations Unit to attend the crime scene.

Several items were secured for further forensic analysis.

The man was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with break, enter and steal, resist arrest, possess precursor and possess apparatus (x4).

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 17 May 2017.
