Man charged after child assaulted in Shalvey

A man has been charged after a child was assaulted in Sydney’s west today, NSW Police say.

About 11am today, a 30-year-old woman was walking along Sedgman Crescent, Shalvey, with her two sons. As they walked passed Fraser Place, they were approached by a man who came out of his home and walked directly towards them.

The man then allegedly grabbed the four-year-old boy by the arm.

The boy’s mother was horrified, grabbed her son and ran away.

Officers from Mt Druitt Local Area Command were notified and commenced investigations.

About 3.30pm today, police arrested a 52-year-old man at his home.

The man was taken Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with common assault.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Monday 3 July 2017.
