Man charged after domestic incident, NSW

A man has been charged following an alleged domestic-related incident at Wagga Wagga overnight, NSW Police say.

About 4pm today, police from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command were called to a home in Connorton Avenue, Ashmont following reports of two people arguing.

On arrival, officers located an 18-year-old man with a machete who was allegedly refusing to leave the premises.

A perimeter was established and officers were able to negotiate with the man who handed over the machete a short time later.

The man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with common assault (DV), intimidation (x2) and being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 4 October 2017.

No persons were injured during the incident.
