Man charged after driving car towards police station in Muswellbrook

Police have charged a man after he allegedly drove his vehicle towards the police station coming to rest in the flower bed at the front of the building, NSW Police say.

About 8.20pm today, a 46-year-old man allegedly drove his 1999 Nissan 4WD at the front of the police station on William Street.

His vehicle mounted the kerb and stopped just short of the building. The driver got out of his car and approached the front of the station before being arrested by officers who had witnessed the incident on CCTV.

He was breath tested at the scene which provided a negative result, but failed a sobriety test. Officers arrested the man and conveyed him to Muswellbrook Hospital for a blood and urine sample.

He was taken back to Muswellbrook Police Station where he was charged with intimidate police officer and reckless driving.

He was refused bail and will appear in Muswellbrook Local Court tomorrow.
