Man Charged After Drug, Ammo, Fake Cash Bust

A man has been charged with a range of offences after ammunition, drugs and counterfeit cash were allegedly seized following a road stop in the state's Southern Highlands.

About 10.30pm on Saturday (9 May 2026), officers attached to The Hume Police District were patrolling Old Hume Highway, Mittagong, about 5km north-east of Bowral.

While patrolling, police stopped a Mazda sedan and spoke to the driver – a 39-year-old man - and had reason to search the vehicle.

During the search, officers seized ammunition, two shotgun shells, a counterfeit $100 note, and drugs – 283.2 grams of methylamphetamine, 36.8 grams of heroin and 11.7 grams of cocaine.

The 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station.

He was charged with nine offences - supply prohibited drug greater than or equal to commercial quantity, two counts of supply prohibited drug great than indictable and less than commercial quantity, acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order, possess ammunition without holding a licence/permit/authority, possess counterfeit money and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 3 yesterday (Sunday 10 May 2026), where he was formally refused bail to appear in Moss Vale Local Court on Tuesday 16 June 2026.
