Man Charged After Drugs, Knife Found in Lake Macquarie

A man will face court charged after drugs and a knife were allegedly found and seized during a vehicle stop in the state's north yesterday.

About 10.30am on Tuesday (9 September 2025), officers attached to Lake Macquarie Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on Cameron Park Drive, Cameron Park.

The driver – a 22-year-old man – was subject to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive reading for methylamphetamine, cannabis and cocaine. He underwent a secondary oral fluid sample that was sent away for further analysis.

A subsequent vehicle search was conducted with police allegedly locating and seizing a large knife, cannabis, cocaine, MDMA and ketamine.

The man was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with:

- Supply prohibited drug greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity

- Two counts of supply prohibited drug greater than small and less than indictable quantity

- Possess drug (not cannabis leaf/MDMA) not exceed small quantity

- Four counts of possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance

- Custody of knife in public place

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division - Court 2 on Wednesday (10 September 2025).
