Man charged after indecent assaults on Sydney train

Police have charged a man following alleged indecent assaults on a train near Strathfield yesterday, NSW police said.

About midday Wednesday, a 22-year-old woman was travelling on a train heading towards Strathfield, when a man has approached her.

The man has allegedly touched the woman inappropriately before she changed carriages to get away from him.

A short time later, the man allegedly approached a 41-year-old woman and touched her inappropriately. The woman started to move away from the man when he allegedly committed an indecent act.

A male passenger has intervened and police were contacted.

Officers from Police Transport Command North West Sector attended Strathfield Railway Station and arrested a 52-year-old man.

He was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with two counts of assault with act of indecency, wilful and obscene exposure, behave in offensive manner in a public place and resist police.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Burwood Local Court Thursday.
