Man charged after investigation into shooting in Casino

Officers investigating the shooting of a man at Casino overnight have charged another man, NSW Police say.

Police have been told a 31-year-old man was walking on Canterbury Street, near Walker Street, about 11pm yesterday (Saturday 1 September 2018), when he was shot by an unknown person in a white sedan.

The car was last seen travelling west on Canterbury Street.

When emergency services arrived, they found the injured man suffering a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.

He was taken to Lismore Base Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Richmond Police District commenced inquiries into the incident and about 12pm today (Sunday 2 September 2018), a 35-year-old man was arrested on Arthur Street at Casino.

He was taken to Casino Police Station where he was charged with shoot at with intent to murder and discharge firearm – intend to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court tomorrow (Monday 3 September 2018).
