Man Charged After Lake Macquarie Hydro House Raid

A man will face court today charged after a hydroponic cannabis crop was found inside a home at Lake Macquarie yesterday.

Police from the Lake Macquarie Proactive Crime Team attended a house at Bolton Point about 12.30pm yesterday (Monday 10 November 2025), as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged illegal cultivation of cannabis.

During the search, police located and seized 83 established cannabis plants growing in five rooms of the house.

Electricians also attended and discovered that power to the house had allegedly been re-routed to avoid the meter box.

A 60-year-old man was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with divert/use electricity for generating etc system without authority, enhanced indoor cultivate cannabis for commercial purpose, and cultivate cannabis (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity).

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Tuesday 11 November 2025).
