Man charged after ramming police car in Whittington

Police arrested two men last night following an alleged police ramming in Whittington, Victoria Police say.

Police attempted to intercept a silver Hyundai Excel with no plates travelling along Oxford Street shortly after 7pm.

The vehicle allegedly failed to pull over and increased its speed.

A short time later police pulled up alongside the Hyundai on Solar Drive.

The Hyundai allegedly proceeded to ram the front quarter panel of the police car.

The two occupants of the Hyundai were arrested at the scene.

The driver, a 20-year-old from Leopold, has been charged with a number of offences including ramming a police vehicle and drug driving.

He has been remanded to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The passenger, a 23-year-old from Whittington, was released without charge.
