Man charged after serious assault, NSW

A man will face court after a serious assault in Woolloomooloo overnight, NSW Police say.

About 2.15am today (Sunday 9 September 2018), two men were involved in an altercation outside a licensed premises on William Street, Woolloomooloo.

Police have been told one of the men ran towards the other man and struck him once to the head, causing him to fall unconscious.

The 24-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition, he has since been released.

Officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command attended and arrested a man, also aged 24, nearby.

He was taken to Kings Cross Police Station and charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (x2) and resist/assault police officer in execution of duty.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 9 October 2018.
