Man Charged After South Windsor Pursuit, Siege

A man has been charged following a pursuit and siege in Sydney's northwest on Friday.

About 11.45am on Friday 19 September 2025, officers from Raptor Squad attempted to stop a stolen blue Volkswagen Polo travelling east along Old Prospect Road, Cumberland.

When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop a pursuit was initiated where it continued onto the M4 but was terminated for safety reasons.

A short time later the vehicle was sighted by PolAir along Rooty Hill Road, Oakhurst, and followed to a home on Welsted Street, South Windsor, where the 36-year-old male driver and a 17-year-old female passenger– entered the premises.

Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command – with the assistance of the Operations Support Group - established a perimeter around the property.

A 30-year-old female occupant of the home and the man and teenage girl were arrested at 12.45pm when they exited the home.

The vehicle occupants were taken to Windsor Police Station where the man was later conveyed to hospital for a pre-existing medical condition under police guard.

Both the 30-year-old woman and 17-year-old girl were later released pending further inquiries.

Following inquiries, yesterday (Saturday 20 September 2025), the 36-year-old man was charged with two counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, two counts of possess prohibited drug, robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, take & drive conveyance without consent of owner, police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, possess unauthorised firearm and possess unauthorised pistol.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 21 September 2025).
