Man Charged After Stolen Car Chase, Assaulting Police

A man will face court charged after a pursuit on Sydney's Northern Beaches involving a stolen car as well as assaulting a police officer.

About 9.30am yesterday (Sunday 30 November 2025), officers from Cumberland Police Area Command responded to reports of a home invasion at a residence on Magowar Road, Girraween.

Police were informed that a male allegedly kicked open the front door of the home whilst three occupants were inside.

It will be alleged the male took possession of a set of car keys to a white Toyota Corolla from within the home and then entered the vehicle that was parked in the driveway before driving from the location.

There was no interaction between the occupants and the male. Neither parties are known to one another.

Shortly before 11am officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command sighted the vehicle on the Warringah Freeway, Northbridge, and attempted to stop it.

When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop a pursuit was initiated but was terminated due to safety reasons.

A short time later a second pursuit was also commenced but again terminated.

About 12.10pm police sighted the vehicle along Pittwater Road, Narrabeen, where it allegedly mounted the gutter coming to a stop.

The driver allegedly ran from the vehicle into Narrabeen Lake where he was arrested.

During the arrest a male senior constable suffered a dislocated shoulder.

The 32-year-old man was taken to Manly Police Station where it will be further alleged he provided false particulars and refused to undergo a breath test, a drug test and a breath analysis. .

Whilst in custody police will also allege he punched a male constable in the face causing minor injuries.

The man – of no fixed place of abode – was charged with ten charges including:

  • Aggravated break & enter and commit serious indictable offence-people there
  • Take & drive conveyance w/o consent of owner
  • Police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly - 2nd+offence
  • Give a false name
  • Assault police officer in execution of duty cause acutal bodily harm
  • Refuse or fail to submit to breath test
  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous-2nd+offence x 2
  • Refuse or fail to submit to breath analysis x 2

He was refused bail to appear before Manly Local Court today (Monday 1 December 2025).
