A man has been charged following a police operation across the Central Coast this morning.
Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District were called to Goorama Avenue, San Remo, about 5am today (Thursday 17 July 2025), after a man reported to be armed with a knife was standing in the middle of the road.
A Taser was deployed to affect the man's arrest; however, he got into his car and allegedly drove at police, hitting their vehicle. A police firearm was discharged and the man drove from the scene.
Following a police operation across the Central Coast, a 42-year-old man was arrested on The Corso, Gorokan, about 7.30am after a Taser was deployed. That man was taken to John Hunter Hospital for assessment.
Strike Force Jelcobine, comprising detectives from Tuggerah Lakes Police District, was formed to investigate the incident.
Following inquiries, the 42-year-old man was charged with 14 offences – enter building with intent to commit an indictable offence, break and enter into house – destroy property, commit Section 114 offence - having previous conviction, destroy or damage property (two counts), assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention (two counts), common assault, robbery whilst armed with offensive weapon, intentionally throw object at vehicle – risk safety and hinder/resist police in the execution of duty.
The man was refused bail and will appear in Bail Division Court 6 tomorrow (Friday 18 July 2025).
