A man has been charged after two alleged assaults in the State's north yesterday.
About 1.20pm yesterday (Saturday 25 April 2026), officers attached to Manning Great Lakes Police District were called to Bushland Drive, Taree, after a report of an alleged road rage incident and assault.
Police were told two occupants of a Mercedes van were approached by the driver of a GWM Utility, who allegedly assaulted the driver – a 72-year-old man – before leaving in his vehicle.
The 57-year-old female passenger was uninjured.
The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries.
About 1.55pm yesterday (Saturday 25 April 2026), emergency services were called to a takeaway business on Isabella Street, Wingham, following reports a man had allegedly thrown two milk cartons into a fryer after being refused service.
A 60-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for burns and was taken to hospital for further assessment.
Following inquiries, about 7.30pm yesterday (Saturday 25 April 2026), police arrested a 42-year-old man at Discovery Park, Harrington.
He was taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with
- Three counts of common assault
- Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
- Intentionally choke etc person without consent
- Destroy or damage property, and
- Possess prohibited drug.
Today (Sunday 26 April 2026), the man was additionally charged with assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.
The man was refused bail to appear at Local Bail Division – Court 1 tomorrow (Monday 27 April 2026).
