Man Charged: Domestic Violence, Assaulting Police

A man will face court today charged with domestic violence-related offences and assaulting police in the state's Far West.

About 5.40pm yesterday (Thursday 22 May 2025), officers attached to Barrier Police District attended a home on Wolfram Street, Broken Hill, following reports of a domestic incident.

When police attempted to arrest the man, a struggle allegedly ensued before he was taken to Broken Hill Police Station.

Two constables received minor injuries during the incident, while a third was taken to Broken Hill Base Hospital where it was confirmed he had a fractured left hand.

A 30-year-old man was charged with common assault, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (domestic), destroy or damage property, two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

The man was refused bail to appear at Broken Hill Local Court today (Friday 23 May 2025).
