Man charged following aggravated break-in and car thefts, NSW

A man will face court and investigations continue following an alleged aggravated break-in and the theft and attempted theft of four cars south of Sydney yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just before 1pm today, police from Camden Traffic & Highway Patrol Command sighted an alleged stolen Holden utility travelling along Remembrance Drive at Tahmoor.

The officers followed the Holden until it crashed into a gutter on Antill Street, Picton. Two men in the car ran into a nearby house and allegedly stole the keys to a Dodge Nitro SUV.

The Dodge was driven west along Anthill Street and then onto the Old Hume Highway where it stopped outside a Community Leisure Centre car park.

The men exited the Dodge and one of them allegedly approached a man and a woman in a Holden sedan and attempted to gain control of the vehicle.

Officers arrested a 29-year-old man inside the Holden after a short struggle where OC spray was deployed.

The other man approached a woman in a Nissan SUV and forced her out of the vehicle before driving off.

The Nissan was located abandoned a short time later in Tahmoor where it was secured for forensic analysis.

The 29-year-old man was taken to Narellan Police Station where he was charged with several offences including:

- Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence;

- Robbery in company; and

- An outstanding warrant.

The man was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court tomorrow and is expected to face further charges in relation to the alleged theft of vehicles and driving offences.

Inquiries are continuing.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
