Man charged following aggravated sex assault in Lidcombe

A man will face court today following an alleged aggravated sexual assault at a home in Lidcombe, NSW Police say.

About 12.10pm yesterday, a 31-year-old woman was at home on Kerrs Road, when her 23-year-old male flatmate allegedly entered her room, threatened her and sexually assaulted her.

Following a struggle between the two, the woman fled the home and entered a nearby business where police were alerted.

Officers from Flemington Local Area Command, with the assistance of officers from the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad, attended the location.

The woman, who was suffering from minor injuries, was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Officers then attended the home and arrested the woman’s flatmate. He was taken to Blacktown Hospital for medical treatment and mental health assessment.

The man, who is a Korean national, was later taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm and choke etc person with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was refused bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court today.
