Man charged following Altona North shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives have today charged a 52-year-old man in relation to an alleged shooting in Altona North on 19 May, Victoria Police say.

The Wyndham Vale man has been charged with a number of offences including attempted murder and possess firearm.

He fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tonight where he was remanded in custody to reappear on Friday.

Detectives executed a warrant at a Marne Avenue address today, where police allegedly located a shotgun, pen pistol, Taser and shotgun ammunition.

Police became aware of the incident after the 25-year-old male victim, from Point Cook, attended a hospital with a gunshot wound about 1am on 20 May.
