Man Charged Following Extended Police Chase in Melbourne's North 16 January

Police Air Wing has assisted in the arrest of a man in the city following an extended follow yesterday.

Darebin Crime Investigation Unit officers first spotted the vehicle displaying allegedly stolen plates in Preston, about 10.30am on Monday 15 January.

It was followed by the Air Wing through Preston, Alphington, Collingwood and into the CBD, where it was dumped on Lonsdale Street. The driver fled the scene but was located by police on Russell Street a short time later and arrested.

The 32-year-old man off no fixed address was charged in relation to several outstanding matters including aggravated burglary, theft of multiple of motor vehicles, as well as a series of thefts and deceptions.

He was remanded and will next appear before Heidelberg Magistrates' Court on 7 February.
